I didn't think I needed another black latex skirt. I have one already — a mini, bought two years ago, worn to death. But the pencil cut kept coming up when I was scrolling through the site and eventually I just ordered it.
It arrived and I put it on immediately, which is not always a good sign. Sometimes that urgency leads to disappointment. This time it didn't.
The high waist is the thing. It sits properly — not digging in, not sliding down after twenty minutes. I wore it for about four hours at an event last month and didn't have to adjust it once. That's rarer than it sounds with latex.
The back split is small. Subtle enough that you don't notice it when you're standing still, but it's there when you walk and it makes the difference between a skirt you can move in and one you're shuffling around in. Knee-length without a split would be a problem. With it, it's fine.
No zipper, which I was slightly sceptical about before it arrived. Getting into it takes a moment — you work it up from the hem, which sounds awkward but isn't really once you've done it once. A dressing aid helps. After that it's just on, and the fit is clean because there's no zip hardware interrupting the surface.
The 0.4mm thickness is right for this silhouette. Thin enough to move, structured enough to hold the pencil shape without collapsing. I've seen this skirt in thicker latex and it looks stiffer, less like clothing and more like a prop. This weight works.
Black is the obvious choice and I don't regret it. But I've been thinking about ordering it again in something darker — a deep plum or a claret. The shape is good enough to repeat.
