How long does made-to-measure latex actually take

LATEX TOP

The question comes up every time. Someone finds a piece they want, works out their measurements, places the order — and then immediately starts doing the maths on whether it'll arrive in time for whatever they have in mind.

It's a fair thing to wonder. And the honest answer is: faster than most people expect, slower than fast fashion, and entirely worth the difference.

What's actually happening after you order

Made-to-measure isn't a warehouse pull. There's no pre-cut panel sitting in a box with your name on it. Each piece starts from scratch — your measurements, your chosen colour, your thickness. The latex is cut, hand-seamed, and finished individually. That process takes time, and it should. A seam that's been rushed shows. A seam that's been done properly holds its shape across a full day of wear and doesn't shift at the edges.

At Form Latex, most pieces are completed within 1–2 weeks from the point your order is confirmed. For more complex builds — anything with multiple panels, hardware, or structural elements like bra wire — it can run closer to 2–3 weeks. We use 0.40mm natural latex from Radical Rubber as our default, and the material itself has a behaviour that rewards patience: it needs to be worked with, not forced.

The part people don't account for

Shipping. Depending on where you are, international delivery adds time on top of production. We ship from the UK, and while we use tracked services, customs clearance in some regions can add a few days that are genuinely outside anyone's control.

If you have a specific date in mind — an event, a shoot, a trip — the safest approach is to order at least 3–4 weeks out. That gives production time to breathe and leaves a buffer for transit without anyone having to rush.

What rushing actually costs

We don't offer expedited production as a standard option, and that's deliberate. Latex hand-seaming done under pressure produces work that looks like it was done under pressure. The material doesn't forgive shortcuts the way some fabrics do — a seam that's slightly off sits slightly off, permanently. We'd rather be honest about timelines than deliver something that doesn't meet the standard we hold ourselves to.

If your timeline is genuinely tight, get in touch before you order. We'll tell you honestly whether it's workable. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't. Either way, you'll know before you commit.

The short version

1–2 weeks production for most pieces. 2–3 weeks for complex builds. Add shipping time on top. Order 3–4 weeks out if you have a fixed date. And if you're not sure, ask — we'd rather have that conversation early than have you anxious at the other end.
